The balance (Latin: bis, two, Lanx dish) is a first-class lever arm equals that through the establishment of an equilibrium between the weights of two bodies can measure masses. Like a Roman, or a scale, a measuring instrument to measure the mass of an object.

Antique scales.
For measurement of mass standards are used where the degree of accuracy depends on the accuracy of the instrument. Like a Roman, but unlike a scale or dynamometer, the measurement results do not vary with the magnitude of the acceleration of gravity.

stand by me

When the night has come
and the land is dark
and the moon is the only light we'll see
no i won't be afraid, no i won't be afraid
just as long as you stand, stand by me
and darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh now now stand by me
stand by me, stand by me
If the sky that we look upon
should tumble and fall
and the mountains should crumble to the sea
i won't cry, i won't cry, no i won't shed a tear
just as long as you stand, stand by me
and darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me
stand by me, stand by me, stand by me-e, yeah
----- guitar -----
whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me, oh now now stand by me
oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me
darlin', darlin', stand by me-e, stand by me
oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me
